Pierre Gasly, who celebrates his 19th birthday today, has always driven cars with a Renault engine beneath the hood, be it in F4, Formula Renault 2.0 or Formula Renault 3.5.

After enjoying a brilliant karting career, the Frenchman made the move into single-seater racing in the French F4 Championship in 2011. Driving a Renault-powered car, he took third place overall behind Matthieu Vaxivière and Andrea Pizzitola. He made his Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 debut the following year before pipping Oliver Rowland to the 2013 title with Tech 1 Racing.

A member of the Red Bull Junior Team, he put together an outstanding Formula Renault 3.5 Series campaign with Arden in 2014, finishing on the podium eight times in 16 races to clinch second place in the standings behind Carlos Sainz.
