Red Bull Racing-Renault’s Mark Webber will start tomorrow’s Monaco Grand Prix from pole position, marking the 40th pole for Red Bull and the 197th pole for a Renault engine in F1.
Webber set a lap time of 1:14.381 round the 3.340km track, eight hundredths of a second slower than Michael Schumacher, but will take the start from pole after Schumacher’s five place grid penalty from Spain is applied. Mark’s team mate Sebastian Vettel will start from ninth.
Lotus F1 Team – celebrating its 500th GP start this weekend – looked quick throughout the session and Romain Grosjean will line up on the second row in fourth, with Kimi Raikkonen eighth.
Spanish GP winner Pastor Maldonado set the ninth quickest time in qualifying but starts tomorrow’s 78 lap race from 19th following a penalty handed out after an incident in FP3 this morning. Bruno Senna starts from 13th.
Caterham F1 Team lines up with Heikki Kovalainen in 17th and Vitaly Petrov 18th.
