This role involves modelling and simulation activities related to the on-car systems. The individual will be responsible for providing validated models of car systems using Simulink/Simscape and DYMOLA, and will use these models to perform analyses to support areas such as hydraulic system, suspension and gearbox design. The role includes specification and support of rig tests for the purposes of obtaining validation data. Specific responsibilities:• Provision of support to design activities where dynamic modelling is required• Design, debug, validation and exploitation of dynamic models. • Maintenance and development of existing models.• Analysis of simulation output culminating in design recommendations. • Support of sub-system rig testing, including the control system where appropriate. The position will report to the Head of Control Systems and Modelling Group. Systems Modelling Engineer - The Person The successful candidate will need to meet the following requirements: • University Engineering or Physics graduate.• Extensive professional experience in physical modelling, preferably in an automotive setting. • Proficiency in the use of Excel, MATLAB / Simulink / SimScape and DYMOLA. • Knowledge and practical experience of control system fundamentals. • Familiarity with the F1 Standard ECU and System Monitor / ATLAS will provide an advantage. The successful candidate will exhibit meticulous attention to detail, demonstrate strength in analysis, enjoy collaboration, and possess good verbal and written communication skills.
