Ever determined to take racing technologies from the racetrack to the road, Renault Sport fitted Clio R.S. Trophy with an Akrapovič exhaust system. The company was founded at the start of the 1990s by Igor Akrapovič, a Slovenian motorbike racing driver renowned for his skills in component design and development. After working in Super Bike and MotoGP, the company then moved into Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, whilst developing partnerships with some of the most prestigious manufacturers.
Inspired by the work done on the Clio R.S.16 concept car, the exclusive Clio R.S. Trophy exhaust system was developed as part of a partnership between Renault Sport and Akrapovič. The work done on acoustics has given the engine an immediately recognisable sound, especially when you increase the revs.
The exhaust system also contributes to improved engine performance. On the Trophy version, the power output has been increased to 220hp (+20hp compared with the R.S.) and peak torque is 280N.m (+20N.m).
