The Renault Mégane R.S. Trophy upgrades the new 1.8-litre direct injection turbo engine, delivering a power output of 300hp (221 kW) at 6,000rpm, and a peak torque of 420Nm at 3,200rpm. This massive power boost is gained through the use of technology taken directly from Renault Sport’s Formula 1 engine: a heat-resistant ceramic ball-bearing system for the turbocharger allowing it to spin harder and faster at almost 200,000rpm. The exhaust system has also been re-worked, with a bypass valve on the silencer that offers volume control on the road but releases full-throated power on the track.
Every detail of the Mégane R.S. Trophy’s performance can be seen in real-time thanks to the optional R.S. Monitor that connects to some 40 sensors around the car. Displayed on the R-LINK 2 touchscreen, these put everything from engine torque to steering angle or acceleration at your fingertips.
Light up the road
The chequered flag design of the R.S. Vision lights, integrated into the front bumper on either side of the F1-style blade, look spectacular. Combining four separate functions – sidelights, cornering lights, fog lights and long-range high beam lights – the nine LEDs on each block throw out enough light to make a real difference when it comes to safety.
Support, comfort and style
Renault’s original Alcantara® seats offer excellent support and comfort, but demanding drivers can also opt for a completely redesigned seat from Recaro. These sit 20mm lower and are 11% lighter, despite such safety components as pyrotechnic pretensioners. The seats support the entire body in style, with the headrests offering space fit for a helmet on track days. The Alcantara® fabric is twice as light as leather, while being tolerant of temperature variations and resistant to wear and tear.
SPORTY WITH SAFETY IN MIND
The Renault Mégane R.S. Trophy matches its high-end performance with equal attention to safety. A head-up display keeps your attention on the road, while overspeed warning and emergency braking assistance help you out when needed. Parking, blind spot and lane departure warnings, with sensors on either side of the front and rear bumpers, will also help keep you aware of other road users.
