The 1.6-Litre engines: TCE and DCI

A petrol TCE version

An expert engine partner and a pioneer in turbo technology and downsizing in Formula 1, Renault opted for reduced capacity engines (1600cc), given special treatment by the "wizards" at Renault Sport.

Hence, this four-cylinder 1.6-litre turbo engine is used on various Renault Sport models, available with 200hp and 220hp on Clio R.S. and 205hp on Mégane GT.

The engine is coupled with a seven-speed EDC dual-clutch gearbox offering incisive in-gear acceleration whilst keeping fuel consumption and CO2 emissions to reduced levels.

And a DCI version

It is also possible to opt for a diesel engine, with the Energy DCi 165 on Mégane GT. With this unit, torque is increased to 380Nm and the EDC dual-clutch gearbox comes with six speeds. This version boasts Twin Turbo technology, with a first very low inertia turbocharger used for ignition and a second one used to increase the revs and for dynamic in-gear acceleration in all circumstances.
