Renault Sport Formula One Team completed a productive first day of the Barcelona in-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with race driver Carlos Sainz in the cockpit.

Carlos completed 119 laps with a best time of 1min 17.562secs, the second quickest of the day. Today’s programme focused on an array of test items and evaluations aimed at improving performance.

For his maiden outing in the car, Jack Aitken will take to the wheel of the R.S.18 for tomorrow’s second and final day of the Barcelona in-season test.

Carlos Sainz: “It was a busy day, but certainly a productive one for me and the team. The main focus was on completing a number of tests and evaluations and discovering how to extract further performance from the car. It’s been a busy few days, a lot of laps completed, and certainly beneficial for our progress.”
