In line with his formidable 2015 campaign and his title in the Renault Sport Trophy, Andrea Pizzitola’s career has since accelerated and the Frenchman is now ready to experience the most intense week of his life.
Thanks to his talent and the opportunities offered by Renault Sport with the aim of promoting the most promising drivers, the Montpellier native took part in the official NISMO driver selection process in Super GT, before becoming a Renault-Nissan Alliance Athlete and landing an ELMS programme.
Following an intense training programme at NISMO Camp, test sessions in the Algarve Pro Racing Team Ligier Nissan JS P2 and hours in the NISMO simulator, Andrea Pizzitola now heads into the final stretch towards the 24-Hours of Le Mans.
One week ago, the French driver was in action at the Circuit de la Sarthe for the traditional test day, where he set the reference time for the n°25 Ligier Nissan JS P2 that he will share with Michael Munemann and Sir Chris Hoy.
This afternoon, Andrea Pizzitola was present for scrutineering before returning to the track on Wednesday for the lone free-practice session (4-8pm), before the first qualifying session (10pm- midnight). Two other two-hour qualifying sessions will follow on Thursday (7-9pm) and (10pm-midnight).
On Friday, the Renault Sport R.S. 01 development driver will take part in the traditional driver parade in the streets of Mans in front of a massive crowd of supporters. Then the tension will mount on Saturday with the 45-minute warm-up at 9am before the start of the 24-Hours of Le Mans at 3pm.
After the 24-Hours of Le Mans, Andrea Pizzitola will begin his European Le Mans Series programme with the same Algarve Pro Racing Team. He will race at the same meetings as the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and Renault Sport Trophy at the Red Bull Ring, Circuit Paul Ricard, Spa-Francorchamps and at Estoril.
