Fisherman’s gain – Senna Iriawan took the Round 11 champion of Clio Cup China Series
2015 Clio Cup China Series had kicked off on 11th Oct at noon. The pole position was Senna Iriawan, following behind by Kenneth Lau and Song Bo. Hong Kong star Jacquelin Chong’s car was suffering from broken drivershaft during the formation lap and had no choice but to retire. At the start of the race, Senna was not having a good start, but was able to take half a car advantage to enter the first corner, but Song was able to pass Kenneth Lau at the first lap. Yang Xu had contact with Allan Tam at T6 and was forced to retire in lap 5 due to the falling front bumper. Senna took the critical moment in lap 2 while Kenneth, Yu Kam Cheong and Song Bo were fighting at the back and splitting the gap. In the end Senna took the champion and the 2 points more from clocking the fastest lap, which also obtained the early overall championship of 2015 Clio Cup China Series. Kenneth Lau was the second while Yu Kam Cheong took the third.
Senna was so satisfied with the result, “I was so panic about the race today because I was not able to clock any lap time during practice even though I clocked the fastest lap time during qualifying. The pressure was still massive to me since Kenneth Lau, my biggest rival was right behind me at the grid. Fortunately he was affected by Yu Kam Cheong and Song Bo from the close battle. I would like to thank my friends and family for supporting me. I have gained a lot of experience in the Clio Cup China Series this year, and I hope I can keep this pace to the next year.”
A Second of gap – Kenneth Lau took the champion of Clio Cup China Series R12
2015 last race of Clio Cup China Series had done on 11th Oct afternoon. Senna kept the pace and overtook all the car and climbed to the pole position. Allan Tam had made contact with another driver but he resumed to race until the end. Song Bo was not able to maintain his good pace when he spun during the middle of the battle with drivers in front, and he dropped his position to 14th. Pole driver Senna was having a hard time to defense Kenneth Lau at the back and before they cross the finish line, Kenneth was able to pass Senna and took the champion, third place goes to Yu Kam Cheong.
The end had come. Clio Cup China Series in 2015 was full of contacts, accidents, and surprises. Senna, who had his first debut in this series had taken the overall championship home. It means nothing is impossible for car racing.
ASIAN FORMULA RENAULT SERIES
9th consecutive wins – Dan Wells from BlackArts Racing by KCMG took the pole again in 11th race
2015 AFR Series R11 Race had start on 11th October morning. Early champion driver Dan Wells from BlackArts Racing by KCMG kept his strong pace during the qualifying and took the pole position for the first race. Darma Hutomo from Asia Racing Team was following behind and Maxx Ebenal from BlackArts Racing was on the third. Dan Well made a good start and led the whole group to enter the first corner while Darma and Maxx stayed in their positions. By the second lap Dan already put a wide gap between the crowd even Darma tried his very best to keep up the pace, but at the same time he had to defend Maxx right at his tail all the time. Class B Wei Lu from Team KRC had made a surprising debut performance in 2015 AFR Series and took the champion from his teammate and Class B pole standing driver Andy Zheng, while also beat Liang Jia Tong from BlackArts Racing.
Dan Wells expressed, “Although I have obtained the overall champion before this race, I didn’t gave up any chances of winning. I have made a 17 seconds difference with the cars at the back, and I have clocked 2 seconds faster for the fastest lap time, which secured my 9th consecutive win. I would like to thank KCMG and BlackArts Racing, I won’t be able to get the champion without their professionalism.”
R12 Race will start on 11th October at noon.
Perfect season for Dan Wells from BlackArts Racing by KCMG
The 2015 Asian Formula Renault came to a successful end with the Race 2 of Round 6 seeing a very close fight at the top of the table. Dan Wells (Team BlackArts Racing - KCMG) again prove his superb driving skills by leading the whole competition from start to finish. Coming in strongly behind him was Maxx Ebanel (Team BlackArts Racing) and Najiy Ayyad Razak (Team S & D Motorsports).
In the Class B category, new driver Wei Lu driving for Team KRC led the class home with a fine drive. Second was Andy Zheng also of Team KRC and third was Thomas Swift of PS Racing.
The Race was not without its excitement. On the 6th Lap, Sebastien Mailleux spun after Turn 10. This called for the Red Flag to remove his car which was right in the middle of the track. The Race was restarted with the Safety Car after about 10 minutes.
On the whole it was a very enjoyable weekend which again showed the competitiveness of the Series.
