After a great season opener in Italy, where he scored the fastest lap in Q2 and won the second race for Koiranen GP, the British-Korean Jack Aitken leads the drivers’ standings in front of his team mates Stefan Riener - the Austrian is 17 points behind - and the other Briton Jake Hughes, who shares the third place with Russian Matevos Isaakyan. The young JD Motorsport’s racer, after having finished third in the championship last year at his very first season in single seater, aims to do better than fourth and seventh he scored at the Santerno’s track, as well as Brazilian Thiago Vivacqua, who claimed a podium finish for the Roberto Cavallari’s squad in Race 1 at Imola.
Spotlights on “rookie” Philip Hamprecht, at the wheel of another Koiranen GP car, and the three Cram Motorsport drivers, Matteo Ferrer, Vasily Romanov - who already showed to easily enter the top-10 - and American Travis Jordan Fischer. Moreover Arta Engineering will try to do well at its home track with F.Renault 3.5 Junior Lotus driver Matthieu Vaxivière and his team mate Australian James Allen, while Tech 1 Racing has confirmed Frenchman Anthoine Hubert, who claimed one victory and the first pole position at Imola, as well as Simon Gachet. GSK Grand Prix and Fortec Motorsports will complete an international and high-level line up.
The Pau event will start on Friday with the free practice and the 25 min Q1 scheduled at 3:30pm. Race 1 (25 min + one lap) will see the green flag on Saturday at 9:25am. On the same day, at 4:55pm, is scheduled the Qualifying 2. Race 2 will start on Sunday at 10:50am, always with the “live info” on Twitter @flp_renault. After Pau, the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS will continue after just one week (24th May) with the Austrian round at the Red Bull Ring track, followed by Spa-Francorchamps (7th June), Monza (5th July), Misano (19th July) and Jerez (11th October).
