After two seasons in single-seater category, in 2011, He joined the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship full-time, driving for Josef Kaufman Racing. He won the title on his first attempt, winning five races over the course of the season, finishing 45 points ahead of his nearest rival, Carlos Sainz Jr.
In 2012, Frijns made the transition to the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, this time racing for British team Fortec Motorsports. As in 2011, Frijns won the title on his first attempt, finishing ahead of Jules Bianchi.
