Renault Clio R3T enters WRC3 with Andrea Crugnola

Andrea Crugnola and Michele Ferrara will represent Renault Sport this season in the WRC3 World Rally Championship in a semi-works Clio R3T. The car will be prepared by Spanish team ASM H. Motorsport, and the aim of this ambitious programme is unequivocal : win the WRC3 title.

Following on from its successful debut at european level last season, Renault Clio R3T continues to rise the ranks this year by taking part in the world championship. One of the new leaders in the two-wheel drive category, Clio R3T will this season compete in the WRC3 World Rally Championship in Renault Sport colours, driven by promising youngster Andrea Crugnola, alongside co-driver Michele Ferrara.

Clio R3T will be prepared by Spanish team ASM H. Motorsport, which has extensive experience at this level. Although just shy of his 26th birthday, Andrea Crugnola already has an impressive competitive record. Winner of several promotional formulas, he really came to prominence in 2013 when he won the Italian Renault Twingo R2 Trophy and along with it, the title of Italian Junior Rally Champion. Runner-up in the European Rally Championship last season, he ended 2014 with a couple of outings in a Clio R3T, claiming two category wins in the process.

Andrea Crugnola’s programme with Renault Clio R3T will begin on gravel with rallies in Portugal, Italy and Poland. After the summer break, he will switch to tarmac, with rounds in Germany and France, before then tackling Rally de España, the season’s only mixed surface event. The Crugnola/Ferrara crew may round off their campaign to win the WRC3 title at the legendary gravel test, Wales Rally GB (to be confirmed).

Developed to be driven on all road surfaces, Clio R3T will therefore have the opportunity to show off its qualities at some of the World Rally Championship’s most demanding events.
