The Infiniti Red Bull Racing-Renault of Sebastian Vettel will start the British Grand Prix from third on the grid behind the Mercedes’ of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Sebastian lapped the 5.891km track in 1:30.211, 0.5secs shy of polesitter Hamilton. Team-mate Mark Webber lines up fourth, just 0.009secs from Seb.
Lotus F1 Team qualified in eighth with Romain Grosjean and ninth with Kimi Raikkonen, making it four Renault-powered cars in the top ten. Williams F1 Team will start tomorrow’s race – their 599th GP start – from 16th with Pastor Maldonado and 17th with Valtteri Bottas.
Caterham F1 Team enjoyed a good qualifying session with Charles Pic, who put together a strong lap to start 19th. Giedo van der Garde made just one run, electing instead to save tyres, and set the 21st best time. The Dutchman however incurs a 5 place penalty as a result of a collision in Canada.
