Last weekend, the Clio Cup Europe completed the first third of its season at Misano while Clio RX made its much-anticipated competition debut with the return of the French Junior FFSA Rallycross Championship in Châteauroux.

Round five of the Clio Cup Europe was held at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

David Pouget (GPA Racing) won the Saturday race ahead of Marc Guillot (Milan Compétition) and Kévin Jimenez (GPA Racing) to reclaim the lead in the general classification. Nicolas Milan (Milan Compétition) bounced back on Sunday to take the win on the final lap. He now trails his title rival by five points.

In Group A, the Milan Compétition drivers Marc Guillot and Anthony Jurado each scored a victory. Giuseppe Cirò (Progetto E20 Motorsport) won the Challengers category twice as did Alessandro Sebasti Scalera (Milan Compétition) in the Gentlemen drivers category.

Clio RX

After a long wait due to the pandemic, Clio RX eventually debuted last weekend at Châteauroux in the French Junior FFSA Rallycross Championship. The spectacle lived up to all its promise with 15 Clio RXs entered. David Bouet led the way in all the qualifying heats before he won his semi-final and final to leave Châteauroux atop the general classification ahead of Florian Meureau and Kévin Portal.

Clio Rally5 continues to star on all surfaces with four new victories in Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic and Denmark.

The father and son crew of Giovanni Di Luigi and Andrea Di Luigi finished first in their category on the gravel of the national Rally Italia Sardegna. At the same time, Alex Español and Cladio Ribeiro won the RC5 class and finished sixth in the two-wheel-drive category in round two of the Spanish Gravel Rally Cup, the Rally Terra da Auga,

Meanwhile, the Czech crews of Jiří Hladík & Tomáš Klíma and Václav Stejskal & Stanislav Viktora scored a class one-two on the tarmac roads of the Lak Racing Rallye Plzeň while Jan Jørgensen and Jacob Back Gernhōfer collected their third win of 2021 on the KOMO GLAD Rally Kalundborg of the Danish Championship.

Coming up

This week, the Clio Trophy France Asphalte competitors will contest the second round of their season, the Rallye Vosges Grand Est (10-12 June). The contenders to succeed Anthony Fotia will have the opportunity to see him start his Clio Rally4 programme, gained thanks to his Junior title won at Le Touquet less than ten days ago.

Round two of the Clio Trophy Spain will take place in Portugal on the Rali Castelo Branco (11-13 June), where Germán Leal will try to defend his lead after winning Rally Sierra Morena.

Staying with rallying, the Clio Trophy Italia will take place at Rally di Alba (11-13 June). Heading into this third round of the year, Giovanni Marco Lanzalaco and Davide Nicelli are neck and neck at the top of the general classification but Mattia Zanin and the other crews will do their utmost to scramble the standings.
