Renault Sport Academy Driver Christian Lundgaard returns to racing this weekend as he sets his sights on winning the SMP F4 NEZ Championship in his rookie season of single-seater competition.

The Dane could clinch the title in Moscow this weekend should things go his way as he commands a 55-point lead at the summit of the standings with two rounds left on the calendar.

The NEZ Championship resumes in Moscow this weekend (18-20 August) after a one-month break with the final round taking place in Assen in October.

Christian has been in dominant form across recent rounds in Parnu and Moscow which has seen him tighten his grip on top spot of the series after taking four wins from six races.

The 16-year-old boasts an impressive 47%-win rate in the championship courtesy of his seven victories.

Last time out in Moscow in July, Christian took pole position and led comfortably from the lights in race one. In race two he pipped Tuomas Happalainen and title rival Alexander Smolyar to take a second win of the weekend before settling for third place in the final race to close in on the title.

“I’m really looking forward to getting out to Moscow where I’m aiming to end the championship. I had a good run here last time out so I’m hoping to build on everything I learned and putting it all together for a successful weekend.

“I’ve really been putting the work in during the break – including an Academy cycling camp in France – so I’m hoping that can be rewarded this weekend by winning the title.”
