Renault Sport Academy Driver Christian Lundgaard stormed to a fourth victory of the season in the Spanish F4 Championship as the series resumed from a two-month break in Navarra last weekend (2-3 September).

The Dane – recently crowned champion of the SMP F4 NEZ Championship – also added a brace of second place finishes in Navarra to take his tally to 116 points after six races. In the opening round at Motorland Aragon in June, Christian took an impressive hat-trick of wins. On this occasion, Christian, who leads the standings by 56 points, secured another hat-trick, but this time it was three out of three pole positions.

Fellow Academy driver Marta García enjoyed a busy weekend with races one and three bringing her two top ten finishes.

Marta was consistently running in the top three across the two test days on Thursday and Friday and backed that up with third and second in the practice sessions.

Unfortunately, the Spanish teen couldn’t repeat that form in qualifying and settled for seventh. A stall on the line in race one saw Marta battle hard for 10th before she retired in race two. Marta finished the weekend off with a seventh place finish to add a couple of points to her name in the championship.

Christian Lundgaard (MP Motorsport, #5)
1st– 116 points – 6/21 races completed

“Setting three poles last weekend was amazing, but it would have been even better to back it up with three wins. Overall it was a really good weekend and I have increased the lead to 56 points in the standings. I’m looking forward to Barcelona now.”

Marta García (MP Motorsport, #19)
8th – 16 points – 6/21 races completed

“It was not the weekend I expected to have in Navarra, I was really fast across the test days and free practices, but it totally reversed. I made some bad starts and I had a small crash in one of the races, but it’s good to add a couple of points. I’m sure if we put everything together next time in Barcelona we will have better results."

Next Round : Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona, Spain (15-17 September)
