Renault Sport Academy Drivers Marta García and Christian Lundgaard return to racing this weekend as the Spanish F4 Championship heads to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for round three of the series.

Marta has set her sights on finishing on the podium after a frustrating outing in Navarra last time out. The weekend had promised so much for Marta who was running in the top three throughout testing and practice a fortnight ago. But she couldn’t quite put it together across the race weekend and had to settle for a brace of points scoring finishes.

The 16-year-old Spaniard sits eighth in the championship on 21 points following the opening two rounds in Aragon in June and Navarra.

Christian occupies top spot of the championship after a successful weekend in Navarra in the previous round. The Danish teenager, who already has the SMP F4 NEZ title to his name this season, took two second place finishes as well as a victory to extend his advantage at the summit to 56 points. Those impressive results are added to the hat-trick of wins he took in Aragon in the opening round earlier in the summer.

8th – 21 points – 6/21 races completed

“Barcelona should be good as it’s a circuit I really enjoy. I’m hoping to put it all together this weekend especially after what happened in Navarra where I had good pace but couldn’t back it up with a good result. I’ve been to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya a couple of times; last year for some testing and this year at the Formula 1 Grand Prix. It’s a nice track and quite technical in places."

Christian Lundgaard (MP Motorsport, #5)
1st– 116 points – 6/21 races completed

“I’m looking forward to this weekend because I have a big lead in the Championship and I’m ready to increase the lead even more! The track itself is good and I tested there last year. Turns three and nine are the most exciting corners and I also like the combination of turns one and two. Hopefully I can get my head down and add some podiums."
