Renault Sport is pleased to announce that Robert Bonetto has been chosen to lead the company into the future, following the departure of former managing director Patrice Ratti.
A graduate engineer from the École Centrale de Lyon and the École Nationale du Pétrole et des Moteurs, with advanced management qualifications from the IESE Business School, Robert began his Renault career in 1992 as head of Prospective Pollutant Emissions before taking responsibility for various combustion, engine control and tuning projects until 2008.
Given the continuing global automotive trends towards hybridisation and electrification, Robert’s career trajectory at Renault will see him in good stead. In 2008, he took over as head of the Service Development Tests Department and Chairman of the Lardy Hygiene, Safety and Working Conditions Committee, before becoming Mechanical Product Strategy Director in 2011. This role saw him play an integral part in the development of EVs, helping increase their responsiveness, performance and consumption, and preparing the shift to electrification via HEV and PHEV vehicles.
In 2015 he was appointed Product Director, A and B Segments, then Electric Vehicles, before taking on the role of Senior Vice President for Renault Products in April 2019 – a position he held until February 2020 when he became the company’s new managing director.
I am particularly pleased to join the Renault Sport family, as a passionate enthusiast. I am taking over from Patrice Ratti at a time when Renault Sport is entering an area of change with the strong trend towards hybridization and electrification, an exciting challenge for Renault Sport and its sporty DNA for driving pleasure at all times. We will take this up with all the passion and expertise that has driven Renault Sport experts for many, many years.
We all wish him every success in the latest chapter of a glistening career.
