Introduction

A worthy addition to the prestigious list of Renault sports cars that began with the R8 Gordini, followed by the R5 Alpine and the Super 5 GT Turbo, the Clio Williams was the first in a long and distinguished line of Clio R.S. models.
As well as celebrating the brand’s success in F1™ with Franck Williams’ team, the Clio Williams was also designed to race competitively. Indeed, to compete in Group A races, Renault need a two-litre engine car. It was therefore based on the unit of the Clio 16S that Renault developed the F7R engine for the Clio Williams. The other standout features were the dark pearlescent blue paintwork and gold Speedline wheel rims, which helped make this little stunner an iconic model.
