We always try to give the viewer a sense of where we are at each GP and this shot is a great Baku ’scene-setter’. Nico in his RS17 is almost secondary to the background. The wonderful track-side architecture of the Azerbaijan Philharmonic Hall provides the stunning setting.
This type of image is all about getting in the correct position. To get to this spot, I took the subway, a golf buggy, a lift and lots of stairs, but it was worth it for the view looking out to the Caspian Sea in the distance.
A wide angle lens and a fast shutter speed has frozen the action below.
